Welcome!

The democratic English speaking country of Belize lies west of the Caribbean Sea on the Central American isthmus. Belize hosts protected areas of coral reef and tropical rainforests, alive with hundreds of bird species, colorful fish, exotic plants and animals. Added features of this nature lover's paradise are inland granite basins at the base of cascading falls whose waters flow through limestone caves en route from the Maya Mountains and tall swaying palm trees bordering sun-drenched beaches of offshore island cayes dotting the Caribbean. With such hot and humid weather throughout the year things can be forgiven for slowing down in Belize.February to April serves as a short break from the more serious months of rain and see an extra hour or two of sunshine. But with highs around the 30°C (86°F) mark and humidity still as thick as a Creole accent you might as well spend all day snorkelling. All journeys begin in Belize City.A city with a fascinating environmental and social history, Belize City offers a diverse range of landmarks and attractions to choose from. As the country's commercial and social hub, Belizeans come from all over the country to shop at the many stores and outdoor vendors that line the streets of the former capital city. Restaurants can be found on most every block and with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables in season the market is always a stimulating stop for the senses.

Taxis are an efficient and economic way to explore the sites of the city, though enjoyable sightseeing can easily be done by foot.

Belize enjoys a subtropical climate, somewhat similar to that of South Florida, with temperatures typically in the 70s to mid-90s. There is a "wet" and a "dry" season, with the dry season lasting approximately from late November through May. Rainstorms can occur during the dry season, but they are usually brief. Over the past few years, changes in global weather patterns have made the dry and wet seasons less predictable. Hurricanes are a potential threat from July to early November. The worst in recent memory was Hurricane Iris, which struck Placencia in southern Belize in October.
